Sosé Mayrig Collection

This collection, named after the artist’s namesake, was inspired by a heroic female freedom fighter, Sosé Mayrig (Mother Sosé). The design it features is meant to portray both the militaristic strength and the feminist spirit showcased by the incredible life of this female fedayi. 

As Armenians, we benefit from the great pride allowed by our rich history, but are also burdened with a seemingly-endless battle for peace and freedom. This is why the main design includes the Armenian eternity symbol, representing both our eternal struggle but also our eternal strength and persistence in the face of that struggle.

The front design features the word “Azad” which means free in Armenian, in this case representing freedom from tyranny but also freedom of spirit. This design is meant to remind us that the valor of our fedayis can continue to inspire us as Armenians, in the homeland and in the Diaspora alike.
